As per Lawkidunya The Civil Partnership Act 2004 was introduced by the Labour government led by Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Act was introduced by the then-Minister for Women and Equality, the Rt. Hon. Patricia Hewitt MP. It was passed with cross-party support in Parliament.
