Sind High Court Stays Aution by Pakistan Customs

KARACHI: As per officials report, A division bench of Sind High Court stayed the auction of home appliances and ordered Pakistan Custom officials of Collectorate of Customs, West to deposit the proceeds from earlier auction with the Nazir of the court.

The bench was hearing a constitution petition filed by Rocca Group of Companies field through Franklin Law Associates. The petitioner maintained that violating the in-bond orders, respondent a Deputy Collector of West Collectorate is auctioning the detained consignments at throw away rates. Justifying delay in getting the items released, petitioner side maintained that they faltered as there was an issue of Regulatory Duty, Now the same has been settled but the respondents without any reason is auctioning the items which was illegal, the counsel for law company stated.

The Sind High Court bench is allowing the plea stayed the auction of items in dispute while fixing April 25 for next hearing. The bench has also sought an explanation that why a good worth 1000 rupees was auctioned at throw away price of rupees 200.
