Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Poultry Science

A scholarship within School of Life and Environmental Sciences to support a PhD student to undertake research identifying and managing conditions to minimise floor eggs in cage free egg production systems in Australia.

BENEFITS OF SCHOLARSHIP
The Scholarship will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate (indexed on 1 January each year) for up to three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR SCHOLARSHIP
be a domestic student have an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled to study full-time in a PhD within the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney
be willing to conduct research within the Australian Layer hen industry that focusses on minimising the production of floor eggs in cage free egg production systems
must also hold at least one of the following in Animal science, preferably Poultry Science or a related field:
an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or
Master’s degree with a substantial research component.
be willing to work closely with the Australian layer hen industry, be willing to travel for farm visits if needed and hold a current driver’s licence
have an interest in conducting survey work and controlled experiments
have skills in data analysis and statistical software. Original Source
