Delhi University is planning to introduce a single girl child quota for postgraduate courses, starting from the 2025-26 academic session. This initiative aims to promote higher education among single girl children and empower women through education.
The university already has a similar reservation policy in place for undergraduate courses, where one seat per course is reserved for single girl children. This policy was first introduced during the 2023-24 admission cycle and has successfully facilitated the admission of 764 students across 69 colleges.
Under the proposed quota, one seat in each of the 77 postgraduate programs offered by the university will be reserved for single girl children. The admission process will be facilitated through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).
This initiative is part of the university’s efforts to promote gender equality and provide opportunities for women to pursue higher education.
