Cyber Crime Penalties and Fines in Pakistan

As per Lawkidunya, Cybercrime penalties and fines in Pakistan are governed by the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016. Here are some of the penalties and fines associated with various cybercrimes:

– Data Damage: Up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of up to PKR 3 lac.
– Electronic Fraud: Up to 7 years imprisonment or a fine of up to PKR 7 lac.
– Electronic Forgery: Up to 7 years imprisonment or a fine of up to PKR 7 lac.
– Malicious Code: Up to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of up to PKR 5 lac.
– Cyberstalking: Up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of up to PKR 3 lac.
– Spamming: Up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of up to PKR 3 lac.
– Spoofing: Up to 6 months imprisonment or a fine of up to PKR 50 thousand.
– Cyberterrorism: Up to 10 years imprisonment or a fine of up to PKR 10 million.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is responsible for investigating and prosecuting cybercrime cases in Pakistan. The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act also provides for international cooperation in combating cybercrime.
