As per Lawkidunya, in general, admissions are admissible in criminal and civil cases. At common law, admissions were admissible.
A statement could only be excluded by a showing of involuntariness, unfairness, or that the circumstances under which the statement was obtained was improper or illegal.
Is an Admission Made to a Stranger Relevant
As per Lawkidunya, an admission made to stranger relevant, hence in general it states that the statements made by the strangers are not taken as admission.
It is under this section of the Indian Evidence Act which states that admission cannot be used against the party who makes admission for his own use. But it could be used against the party who makes the admission.
