As per Lawkidunya, Bribery is defined by Black’s Law Dictionary as the offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official or other person in charge of a public or legal duty.

Is Bribery a Federal Crime?
The federal bribery and gratuity statute, 18 U.S.C. § 201, was enacted in 1962 as part of a comprehensive conflict-of-interest legislative reform. The Supreme Court considers subsections (b) and (c) to be “to separate crimes—or two pairs of crimes.”
